The team at Passages wants you to know how great our program truly is. All the reviews and testimonials on this site were written by Passages alumni, who have graduated from the program. As you will see in each review, the alumni’s of Passages have had a remarkable and life changing experience. We believe in our holistic program of healing, but understand that it helps to hear it from those who have been through the program and experienced it first hand. Please take a moment to read some of our reviews and see for yourself that Passages is everything we claim to be.
Our story is rooted in the firsthand experience of our CEO Pax Prentiss and his loving father, Chris Prentiss. There are swatches Pax Prentiss remembers from his ten-year addiction to heroin, cocaine, and alcohol. Pax remembers the desperation and the vulnerability that accompanied his addiction. Chris Prentiss, co-founder of Passages, author of the guidebook "Be Who You Want And Have What You Want" and more importantly Pax's father remembers the heartbreak that followed his son's relapses.
The father-son duo then struggled to find a facility that would "fit". A place devoid of archaic therapy philosophy, myth based stereotypes, self-fulfilling prophecies, and cookie cutter group sessions. They wanted to find a place that did not look at addiction as a lifelong disease but rather saw it as a cover for other unresolved issues. Every time Pax would commit to group therapy sessions that failed to view him as an individual, he would relapse. Every relapse would result in hopelessness.
Chris and Pax Prentiss did not find such a facility, so they made one themselves. With the help of this individualistic approach towards addiction, Pax Prentiss finally got over it. Because of Passages, Pax Prentiss has been sober for fifteen years. It is the collective struggles and memories of this father-son team that has enabled them to craft such a comprehensive program.
What makes us more than rehab facility is our capacity to empathize with every person enrolled with us. We are a non 12 step rehab facility located in the scenic private hills of Malibu, California. The Malibu chapter of Passages was founded in 2001 by Pax and Chris Prentiss. It is the same facility that enabled Pax to overcome his ten-year addiction. The therapy method we follow is one on one and has been very efficient in changing lives of many people addicted to an assortment of substances including marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and alcohol.
One of the best things about Passages is the holistic approach it has towards healing. We believe in getting acquainted with the cause of the issue and then solving it as opposed to slapping disheartening labels on brave people willing to quit.
We opened another chapter of Passages in Ventura in 2009 in an attempt to reach out to more people in need. We have been changing lives since then at both our branches using our unique therapy approach.
Pax Prentiss and Chris are aware of the challenges that people have to face when they wish to quit. By founding Passages, they have tried their utmost to make their journey smoother by equipping each with just the right tools to deal with their unique issues. This acumen of empathy the father-son team holds for people going through similar problems has funneled through every layer of our facility.
Consequently, everything we do at Passages Malibu is an attempt to create an environment that is conducive to mental and physical wellbeing. Our staff is well trained and empathic, our program is holistic, and our location is serene. For this very reason, we have been recognized by various credible sources including JCAHO which has been awarded to only 6% of the institutes in the country.
Recently, Passages Malibu got a review in Forbes as one of the "Most Luxurious Places To Dry Out" due to its revolutionary approach towards therapy, destigmatization of drug addiction and serene location.
“Why should we punish someone for being an alcoholic by turning them into a cleaning person? You wouldn’t do that to someone who checks into a hospital for diabetes."
Healthcare Global also gave us the topmost review in their feature called "Top Ten Rehab Clinics In The World" due to our innovative mode of drug and alcohol addiction treatments. Their feature recounts several facilities we provide to our members to make their journey quit drugs easier. There's a mention of our pristine ten-acre facility and the ocean view and our leisure facilities including our gym, vast tennis courts, swimming pools and basketball courts.
"What makes Passages stand out from other rehabilitation clinics is its unique treatment program."
It is due to our unique approach to therapy and committed staff that we get an overwhelmingly positive feedback and reviews from credible media sources. While Forbes sheds light on the unique philosophy of our organization by rightly quoting our co-founder, Healthcare Global discusses our means of applying it. Not only do we provide individuals with one on one attention but we also believe in encouraging their individual quirks. By applying this approach, we create an environment more receptive to recovery. We are also actively engaged in refuting the stereotypes people attach with addiction.
It is only through having a friendly staff and nurturing environment that we have been able to accomplish so much; we also gain a lot of good feedback from our alumni and their family members. Thanks to them, we get to hear more stories that resemble Pax's. It is these success stories that make our work rewarding. Chris and Pax continue to reach out and change the lives of many people. We have revolutionized the therapeutic field by taking an alternative approach that continues to benefit several households. Always remember that your path to recovery does not need to be difficult and that there is always hope.
